My name is Mary Davenport. I'm excited to be on this journey into various cultures and perspectives through literature. This summer I am asking you read 3 books to prepare for our rigorous DP program. For each book you read, you are expected to post a response analyzing the text. For each book, you are also expected to respond to other posts. This will be one of your first assignments to be entered into the grade book upon return in the fall. Enjoy it...I hope you'll find the reads to be worthy of your time!

ReplyDeleteAnalyze the text can mean a variety of things. In essence, you are discussing what the author is trying to communicate (theme), and how the author communicates it (literary devices). You can analyze theme, characterization, figurative language, setting, oxymorons (tensions, conflicts in the text), word choice, mood, tone, etc.
